BBC radio 1  has a target audience of 15-29 year olds, in my opinion they meet this target perfectly by showing artists that younger people will know. These artist are usually from the uk as this gives the audience a feeling of familiarity as the accent can be related to by the target audience.

The BBC radio 1 supports upcoming artists these are usually one time hits and then the audience will listen to to the artist more, meaning that BBC radio 1 introduces them to lots of new artists and genres. They also play live music as younger people enjoy the feeling of something being played live as most people going to concerts/live music are around 25 years old. This fits the remit because the remit says to target younger audiences and support uk artists. Here are some examples of emerging artists: Holly Humbug and Stormzy

To inform educate and entertain

Target
it targets the audience with the music by kendrick lamar and big lizzo appealing to a younger audience
talks about selfies joking around. refers to swearing alot and that she isnt suitable for aa younger programming

range of music
a range of music including her albums and some others like sam smiths albums
They also play kendrick lamar to show the societal difference in music taste and that he can do more than just one genre

support emerging artists

Provide a platform for live music
it provides a platform by using a variety of songs and genres to create and entertain and majority of the listeners

champion UK artist
although lizzo is not from the uk she covers sam smith who is from uk. acknowledges the the issues of the British society not other countrys

provide a mix of music and speech

she performs music first then has an interview with the people from live lounge Entertains through her comical responses to questions its a tune informs she plays the flute and shows her skills. Talks about background and shares anecdotes with the presenters

Exam format

end of topic assessment:

francise
question 2

question 3
tv license fees

question 2
they use uk artists
questions 3
because its free so its easily accessable for the public people dont have to pay extra as radio 1 runs on the tv license fees making it free to listen to by the public
question 2
A radio audience can be very passive because its not live showing they cant give any criticism

question 3
because most radios have a certain type or theme and radio 1 does not. They do not discriminate either.
theyre remit says they haev to support upcoming artists. their remit also says to play live music as theyve the money for that paid by anyone with tv.

MUSIC VIDEOS

8th of February 2023

skater boy narrative
story line is about her ex boyfriend who's a skater, she talks about how he did her wrong and ends it with jumping and singing on a car
teenage dirtbag
A geek/nerd begins the music video with showing a crush on a popular girl from his high school.
He tries talking to her but fails to do so every time. The song then ends at prom where she asks him to go to a concert with him, he wakes up and realises its all a dream.

She is literally covering herself in wealth showing she cares most about her belongings
she is saying that without the money she would be nothing

sk8er boy
she isn't wearing much make up just a lot of mascara, they are trying to show she is a teenager by this as she looks quite young. she also is wearing an old t shirt this is because she has to look like a not very wealthy teenager. she wears a cap to hide the fact she has nice hair as this is not very lower class teenager like. She's wearing converse which are shoes usually connected with skater boys or the skater community. The video suggests punks by showing people or friends of Avril, vandalising buildings and the streets

teenage dirtbag
The music video is set in a school this is clearly shown by the teenagers there. He's wearing a hat and sunglasses showing he's a fun and play-full man, not too serious about what happens. It shows they have little care about others opinions and are just living life as it comes. the clothes show that they choose the practical way of things. The music video shows exactly they are a teenage dirtbag because of the main character acting like they dont care about a thing.

Avril Lavigne and her friends are dressed like careless teenager. This is achieved by using dirty old clothes like old t shirts and messy hair. this could suggest to the audience that Avril doesnt care about the opinions of people. In Avril Lavigne's music video, it is set in a big city. We know this as we are shown shots of buildings and busy streets. In my opinion the video is set here because it adds to the skater lifestyle, the streets.
